Artem Belogurov speelt Mozarts pianosonates op replica 1783 Stein-fortepiano (1 mei 2026)

Op vrijdag 1 mei 2026 speelt pianist Artem Belogurov een selectie van Mozarts pianosonates in de Kleine Zaal van Het Concertgebouw. Belogurov speelt op een replica van een 1783 Stein-fortepiano, gebouwd door Gerard Tuinman. Mozart zelf is in aanraking geweest met het originele instrument en bewonderde de fortepiano in een brief aan zijn vader.

De Stein-fortepiano heeft geen stalen raam of dubbele repetitiemechaniek, maar lichte houten hamertjes met leren bekleding. Dit zorgt ervoor dat de klank helder, direct en transparant is. Het klinkt soms meer als een klavecimbel dan een moderne vleugel! Dit in combinatie met de intieme akoestiek van de Kleine Zaal zorgt ervoor dat Mozarts muziek bijzonder dichtbij komt.

Belogurov is een specialist in historische toetsinstrumenten en doceert fortepiano aan het Utrechts Conservatorium (HKU). Hij benadert Mozarts sonates als muziek die leeft. Zoals gebruikelijk voor een pianist in Mozarts tijd speelt Belogurov improvisaties om de genoteerde noten heen en schrijft hij zijn eigen cadensen.

Artem Belogurov performs Mozart on a replica 1783 Stein fortepiano (1 May 2026)

On Friday 1 May 2026, pianist Artem Belogurov presents a selection of Mozart’s piano sonatas in the Kleine Zaal of Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Belogurov performs on a replica of a 1783 Stein fortepiano, built by Gerard Tuinman—the instrument Mozart famously praised in a letter to his father.

Without an iron frame or double escapement action, the Stein fortepiano uses light wooden hammers covered in leather, producing a clear, immediate sound world—sometimes closer to the harpsichord than to the modern grand piano. In the intimate setting of the Kleine Zaal, Mozart’s music is heard with striking clarity, elegance, and nuance.

Belogurov is a specialist in historical keyboard instruments and teaches fortepiano at the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium. He approaches Mozart’s sonatas as living music: alongside playing the written score, he improvises in Classical style and performs his own cadenzas, as was common practice in Mozart’s time.
